Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 June 2026 · Written for people, in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) and NDPR
What we collect, and why
- Your email address — to sign you in (we send a code, never a password to remember).
- Your name and phone number — your circle identity. One phone number can only ever be on one account; that is what makes the record trustworthy.
- Your receiving bank account (bank, account number, account name) — so circle members know where to send the money when it is your turn, and so everyone can see whether the account name matches your profile name.
- Your circle activity — rules you agree to, contributions you mark, receipts you file, confirmations, disputes, verdicts, exits and the trust events they produce. This ledger is the product.
The legal basis is the contract between us (running your circle's record) and, for the trust profile, our legitimate interest in keeping circles honest — which is also every member's interest.
Who sees what
- Members of your circles see your name, trust profile, circle activity — and your receiving account details, because that is where they send the money when it is your turn. Nobody outside your circles sees your account details. Ever.
- People you ask to join see your public trust preview (name, score, circles completed) — shown honestly, including "New to Ajoko — no record yet".
- We never sell your data. No advertising lists, no data brokers, no exceptions.
Who works for us behind the scenes
Your data lives with two processors, bound by their own data-processing agreements: Supabase (database and sign-in, hosted in the EU — an adequate jurisdiction for international transfer under the NDPA) and Vercel (app hosting). Receipt screenshots live in private storage; only your circle can reach them through the app.
We use no advertising trackers and no third-party analytics during the beta.
How long we keep it
Your circle record is kept for as long as your account exists, because a record-keeper that forgets is worthless to the people who relied on it. Nightly backups are kept for 30 days.
Your rights
Under the NDPA you can, at any time:
- See everything we hold about you (most of it is already on your profile and boards).
- Correct anything inaccurate — your name, phone and account details are editable in the app.
- Take a copy of your data in a portable format.
- Delete your account. Your personal details (email, phone, bank account) are erased. One honest caveat: the circle events you took part in — contributions, confirmations, verdicts — remain on your former circles' boards in anonymised form, because other people's records depend on them.
- Object or restrict processing, and complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission if you think we got it wrong.
To exercise any of these: support@ajoko.ng once ajoko.ng is live — during the beta, reach us through the admin who invited you, and we will act on it without delay.
